Most Successful Person in my life

Finally exams are over and I am now relieved, been sick for a few days, almost recovered from that. Back to work now. I started writing this blog with a vision that I will keep this completely anonymous, but I think that is not a super smart approach as it might restrict me from sharing my personal experiences. From now on I will share more things here without being anonymous but I will not publicise the blog itself.

Today is 23rd of July, this day marks the birth-day of Nihar Hodawadekar a.k.a Nazz. Well, what about it? So what? Why am I writing about it here?

First let’s get the definition of Success clear. I visualise a well to do person doing great in their particular field, most people will have a similar understanding I suppose. But here, I want to put great emphasis on the prerequisite of success, on the work that is put which leads to that. Which we rarely get to know about. Yes, biographies and interviews and movies and what not exists but seeing it from close is something different.

And I believe I am lucky enough to say that I have seen a good amount of Bhai’s journey from a budding underground talent to a mainstream artist. In this blog post, I will try to callback incidents that highlight some traits of his which have taught me and inspired me.

I would like to start with the biggest factor which I have observed. Consistency. That is the first thing which comes in mind. The biggest factor that has contributed to his progress was no doubt the consistent efforts that he has put in his art. I have observed this during the ups and downs, in all the seasons, all types of instances. I have seen him work. I won’t say there was no day off at all, but never have I seen him procrastinating to an extent that might seriously affect the trajectory of his journey. That level of irresponsibility has never been observed by me. This factor is something that inspires me the most personally, as consistency is something I lack (yes, very much visible from the number of posts I have made here).

What consistency did for him and what it does for others generally is to keep the show running, sometimes with lower pace, sometimes with godspeed. Consistently putting efforts made sure that the momentum never came to a blank. At any point of time, the progress was happening in the real time, little or a lot, there was something happening, most of the times.

The next thing that I have seen is the never give up attitude. An essential one, the term ‘never give up’ is so simple and so overused that we underestimate it’s significance. The simple yet essential thing for success in my understanding is not leaving the front-line. There were times which were hard and there were times where uncertainty was at it’s peak, we might or might not have discussed about it with each other at every single instance but I have observed them closely.

Of course, when you put efforts into something and the expected results are not yielded, disappointment and disheartening is unavoidable. But it comes down to how much you let if affect you, how long do you hold it and keep whining about it. On the releases which did not meet expectation, I have observed the annoyance and disappointment but never has it led to the thoughts of giving up in him. I can say this with 100% surety irrespective of whether I may have discussed it or not.

Moving forward, one the many things which were said to me directly by bhai was, those who don’t adopt with time are lost with time. Not the exact words, but the exact meaning, these words came when discussing about someone. How true this is, change is the only constant in the nature and those who do not change are consumed by the nature. And this is something which he not only has realised but also applied in his life. Improving his style with the newer and better sounds which emerge in the general consciousness and not being stuck on a single thing. This is something that is clearly observable even from the outside. Although I am not sure about how I am going to implement it in my life, but I surely will.

I think I am very fortunate to be a part and observer of a success story from this close. Seeing someone work their way out from nowhere to a good spot in a highly competitive industry is something very inspiring. It motivates me to work and believe that I can do whatever I wish for as well. All it takes is the will to put efforts. I am and will be inspired by bhai time and again. I will write about him time and again. As he is not only the most successful person in my life but also one of the most hardworking person that I have seen as well. Both are synonyms to each other I believe.

There are lot of anecdotes which I want to share, but not now, not in this post, some other day in some other post. Till that time, bhai once said something which has stuck with me quite nicely –

Tera bhai hiphop ko chhodega jab ye duniya chhodega

In short, Hiphop till we die!
